God, in 1995, I listened to "Winter" incessantly. Such an emotional time, such an emotional song. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jmk0AVNRBIY

I miss looking through the bins of CDs and LPs. Spent many hours doing it, looking for people who wrote their own songs. That is how I ended up buying the first Joan Armatrading LP.

Yes, Anastasia Remains my favorite Amos song. Was fortunate to see her in concert about 25 years ago or so. She was splendid.

Tori Amos Rock! Had all her piano music back in the day. She’s raw, real and exposed in lyric and in song. Great for a rainy day or a road trip.

When "Little Earthquakes" came out, I happened to hear the song "Winter" on the radio on my way back to work on my lunch break. I had to park when I got there and wait until the song ended because I had to know who the singer was. I've collected all her albums and can't think of a song I don't like, though I have a few favorites.

The fact that this is the second time I have seen you post something that has to do with Tori... just makes me even more of a fan of you. The first time was a video with your parrot that had in the background "crazy" playing from Scarlet's Walk. Tori is extraordinary in so many ways. Her music and live shows have been a staple my entire adult life having seen her first in 1992. I have traveled the world to see her and many of my close friends, some global are because of Tori and her music. Mary? Have you ever seen or met Tori ? She will be touring in the states in the late spring of 2022 in support of her recent release, Ocean to Ocean How can we get you to a show? If you look in recent 6 liner notes you will see "the sage fairy", that is me. I'd love for you to meet her. I think you two would get along fantastically well. Anyways. kinda weird to post something like this here but this is probably the only place to perhaps interact with you. I wish you an amazing holiday season. I thank you for being such a strong woman and an example to us all. You are a stand up human being. Most importantly, thank you for standing up for this country. Thank you for working in mental health as well. It is such an undervalued facet of healthcare and take it from me, a retired paramedic who has seen some awful things and suffered from PTSD... EMDR and therapy were life changing. Your work is more important thank you know. And thank you for having the good sense to be a Tori Amos fan! Take care Mary. --

I also discovered Tori's music in the early 90's. Little did I know at the time she was actually born in my small NC town of Newton. We were born in the same tiny hospital that closed nearly 50 years ago. My late father went all through school with her late mother. He got out his yearbook and showed me her photos and I actually thought it was Tori. My father reached out to her and they chatted for over an hour reminiscing. Tori was on tour and she asked my dad if I would like to get a backstage pass. He said "Yes!! Yes!! Of course!' . I went to see her in Columbia, SC and spent about 20 minutes with her. We sat on a couch and chatted about life and looked through my dad's yearbook . She had never seen the photos of her mom. She was such a sweetheart and extremely humble. It was quite a magical evening. She truly is a musical genius!!!!!

Thank you so much. Tori Amos got me through terrible adolescence and my 20s. She is still a staple in my life. Thanks for writing this lovely piece.

I can’t express well how Tori Amos has moved me in living. Just being alive and able to reassess my further direction meant I was able to see myself as a person who needed to look at themself as in place within a group of others with each contributing their own and not all of us joined on a Ferris wheel. 🎡 Thank you, Mary.

I’m a 66-year-old guy and have always loved Tori Amos’ music and voice. I also love the music and voice of Nellie McKay, who, even in her late teenage years, wrote and sang songs that are evocative of the 40s through the 70s, especially her initial release, “Get Away From Me.”

Tori’s songs “Sugar” and “Cooling” (particularly any live version like the ones on To Venus and Back) always give me chills. I love all of her work.

I sense a romantic person somewhere in Mary L. Trump. Love it. I love the music you have shared. Music is what I miss most in my life since every year I add my ears have added 10. Trying to find news ways to listen. I love the music but the lyrics are very important to me and hard for me to hear.
