GOOD HUMAN OF THE WEEK: Vladimir Kara-Murza - the Russian dissident leader of anti-PUTIN/pro-freedom movement in Russia who, despite being poisoned in two attempts on his life for speaking against Putin and his policies, chose to return to Russia during this time of war to help lead the freedom movement and give hope and energy to that effort. he gave interviews to MSNBC and CNN and then a week ago, was arrested by Russian forces and sentenced to ‘15 days’ which nobody believes will actually be 15 days. This man was nearly murdered twice for speaking out against Russia’s Putin-led horrors but chose to return because as he said ‘Russia is his country.’ And how could he expect Russian citizens to keep fighting back against these horrors if their leaders fled the country. He went back knowing they would take him into custody (at best) and kill him (at worst). That’s a kind of bravery and dedication to cause and humanity that I think we all strive for and wish to hold in our own hearts.

Happy Easter, Mary!

I nominate for Good Human(s) of the Week the staff and volunteers of World Central Kitchen who continue to feed the Ukrainian citizens in the interior parts of the war torn country while the Russians keep attacking.

Oh Mary, there are so many good human’s out there right now. I have to shout out to a few women, first.

Mary Trump: Girl! your bravery and tenacity are admirable and I am honored to call you one of my tweeps!

Allison Gill: Her intelligent humor and daily breakdown of the news is right up my alley, swears and all! AG and her listeners were my family when I didn’t feel like I had one.

Joyce White Vance- explanation of The Law and how it applies to the facts of this ever evolving sea of corruption makes me feel smart.

So many more… Lincoln’s Bible (and a dude or two, Greg Olear for one) explanation of mafia history and why things have evolved they way they have. Eye opening and mind numbing.

Finally (and most important nowadays) … Glenn Kirschner …(he gives me hope that justice may actually happen).

I nominate gay and non-binary 17 year old Winter Park, Florida high school junior Will Larkins as my Good Human of the Week. Will is the student who asked if they (Will uses they/them pronouns) could teach their class about the Stonewall Rebellion (which his teacher didn't even know about) and after the video went viral they were investigated and moved to another class (because I think the teacher was embarrassed). Will isn't backing down and has appeared on NBC here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fraU3touZ8w and wrote this op-ed https://www.nytimes.com/2022/03/12/opinion/florida-dont-say-gay-bill.html. Here's a story about the investigation that occurred https://www.metroweekly.com/2022/04/florida-teen-investigated-for-presentation-on-stonewall-riots/.

It seems like there are many, many Florida teens and college student who are fighting back against the fascism in their state and Will is leading the charge on LGBTQ issues.

Clarissa Ward has my vote for her continued bravery reporting from Ukraine, with so many other journalists and videographers doing the dangerous job of bringing the slaughter and devastation into our living rooms for all of us to witness.

I think it should be Good Humans—the People of Ukraine. They are a strong, fierce people who are bravely fighting, surviving, and dying for an unjust war by an authoritarian dictator against their fledgling democracy.

This may be a confusing answer, but firstly I’m nominating members of the media who haven’t lost sight of the biases that impact reporting on the situation in Ukraine. By no means is this meant to detract from the severity of the atrocities being committed against the country as a whole, but the fact that refugees of colour fleeing from Ukraine have been turned away at the borders and that this was only covered for a hot second if even is a huge problem. What’s more, sympathy for Ukraine, which again they fully deserve, is to some extent explicitly rooted in their demographics so to speak. I’m glad some journalists are calling out how racist some of the reporting or lack thereof is. It does not seem like a popular thing to do, but it is much needed.

Pink Floyd for recording their first track in almost 30 years just for Ukraine. It’s called Hey Hey Rise Up, it’s pro-art, pro-soul, and anti-bullshit.

Good Human of the Week goes to Mary Trump who took a stance when it wasn’t popular in the family… to do this alone takes courage and bravery, especially when you have such an Uncle like Donald. But Mary forged forward with truth & facts, enlightening all of us to the dangers of a sick mind. It’s a damn shame those in power didn’t listen, it’s even more of a shame how they are still inactive today… but Mary keeps telling us the truth… and she keeps pointing to the facts for us all to see with our own eyes. Thank you Mary for always being a good human, bringing us truth, facts, music, arts & animals with cool personalities!

After reading the list of suggestions, I cannot choose one. I am grateful that there could be this many in a week. I agree that you, Mary, should be nominated because you give us all an opportunity to read about goodness and share your spirit and intellect. Thank you!
