Thank you Mary because she has always been one of my favorite musicians. I even got to see her live in Seattle on the waterfront. I bought all her records but like you I haven’t listened to them in a long time but I love her music so much I know exactly what you’re talking about -she touches our souls.
Ha! - I remembered her a couple of weeks ago, but went straight to #3 (Joan Armatrading) & #4 (Show some emotion) which I think were her creative highlights. Birmingham (UK) lady. Fabulous musician and great voice.
I read somewhere that Joan Armatrading used to be George Santos' Irish mother before she emigrated from Be'er-Sheva, Israel, to Salt Lake City, Utah. But that was long before his days as a freedom fighter with the Gondi people in central India, and before his time spent playing in the NBA.

Joan Armatrading got me through some dark and difficult days in medical school from 1977-81, along with Emmy Lou Harris! Thank you for the memories!

Saw her when I was 23 yrs old - 80's - small little venue - shelter from the storm
I immediately went online to hear Joan's music also. Thank you so much for this gift of remembrance and re-interest in this remarkable artist!

I first started listening to Joan Armatrading in college You’re quite right-there’s nobody like her and no one who expresses a woman’s heart better.
