Hundreds of voter suppression bills have been introduced across the country. Abortion bills are everywhere, criminalizing women, doctors, agencies that try to help women. One state introduced a bill to require women legislators to cover their arms. More books are being banned, more people are refusing to get their children vaccinated against any disease, disinformation is rampant and spreading.
Jeffries' speech was fine for the few who heard it. What is the Democrat's strategy to combat disinformation? What is the plan for flipping the House in 2024? How do we get GenZers to vote...27% was not a great showing in 2022. Why did fewer Democrats turn out in 2022 than 2018? Why did we lose the Wisconsin Senate seat (a GOP official told us...they targeted Black voters in Wisconsin with disinformation, and the turnout was lower than expected. Where's the Democratic autopsy? They lost the House to insurrectionists who want a national ban on abortion, a tax cut for the wealthy, and to cut aid to Ukraine. This was not a good result for Democrats.
The Senate is a terrible uphill climb, but instead of choosing 1 candidate to back in CA, it's already a free-for-all...it's almost as though House Democrats don't comprehend the dangerous moment we face.
Finally, can we all stop pretending that DOJ is going to bring any indictment of consequence to protect our democracy? It's up to us. If we don't run for state, local offices, and school boards, and we don't figure out how to turn out the vote, then we simply will watch our rights eroded, at the federal level, and state by state.
