Absolutely brilliant article, Mary. Thank you. I wish it could be published on the front page of every newspaper in this country. I am 84, so I have many years behind me to which to compare "now." I prefer "then," thank you very much. When I read yet another article that makes me want to either laugh, scream, or weep, I read books instead. Fiction. Sapphic fiction. I would rather read about their problems than the alp-high pile of disasters going on in the here and now. I have been a huge admirer of yours since reading your first book. I also subscribe to The Mary Trump Show. You help me to keep my sanity. You are not afraid to use the F-word when it is THE only word that works! You are high on my list of heroines! Keep up the great work, Mary, and take time for yourself because we need you to stay safe and well.

When I saw your title and subtitle, I knew at once what the subject must be, and thought, Mary’s taking up the torch from Eric Boehlert. Keep shedding light.

Thank you, Mary, for your in-depth column on inflation.

I agree with your statement and video commentary on guns.

' I never want to hear the expression “good guy with a gun” again as long as I live. '

And yet, Democratic leadership stil has no coordinated messaging for the midterms.

How hard is it to say: if you vote in 4 more Senators and vote to retain a Democratic House, we will do XYZ (carve out the filibuster to 1) codify Roe, Griswold, etc, 2) lower prescription drug prices, 3) codify reasonable voting rights, 4) limit the purview of Scotus).

The first 3 are wildly popular, but there can't be overreach (eg, not unlimited abortion rights).#4 is essential if Biden won't expand the Court.

Vague or wild promises won't cut it.

Then Democrats actually have to take immediate action to do what they said they'd do. This creates momentum.

Then they can tell the country what they'd do if 6 more Democratic Senators were elected. Reasonable but strong gun legislation, taxes on the wealthy and corporations, elimination of tax loopholes, etc.

Rinse and repeat until dark money is out of politics and Scotus is limited to hearing a narrow range of cases.

This will never happen, but it's one of the few ways to save what remains of our democracy.

I am a working woman who owns an electric car because it is CHEAPER. The sticker on the window of a new car is what it costs to purchase it and drive it off the car dealer's lot. The dealer does not provide information about what it will cost to Operate the car, the sole reason for the purchase!

The cost of electricity varies by location and time of day. In Seattle I pay about 27% per fill up, when compared with the cost of gas. Additionally there is very little maintenance. Tires and wiper blades alone the last 2 years of a 2020 vehicle.

First of all, re gas prices: I sure would like someone to tell the powers that be in Oregon that prices are down. They are STILL over $5.69/gal in our small town. And the gasoline stations on off ramps can be even more. Second, the shooting in Texas was the worst case of cowardice I have ever seen. How can one possibly here shooting know it is killing children and run the other way? Despicable.

You are absolutely correct! I've thought this for some time now. Mary, you must check this out...on Twitter find Nick Knudsen @NickKnudsenUS look for his post from 2 days ago (13th) with the video with a "prayer declaration" (Christofascist indoctrination ceremony) If this doesn't scare you shitless, like it did me....I know it will. This has been in the works for the past 80-90 years. OMG!!!!! It's here now.

Mary this article clearly explains the origins of inflation and high gas prices during these times. I will keep and share to others who constantly blame President Biden.

As far as the video of Uvalde, I have never been as outraged as I am when I watch this, and learn more about the “ response” of law enforcement at the school.

Thank you for your focus on both.

With love and gratitude.

You are so right, no matter what if something goes wrong or is off then it is Joe's fault. These last few years have been like a merry-go-round trip and I want off this trip. Just think of a way to convince Manchin, the global warming idiot to get on board and get with the program or get out.

Thanks! This entire situation has me fascinated but at the same time terrifying! I keep wondering what we do to bring folks back to reality. It’s not going to be easy or pretty.

Some of his biggest critics are blue-check accounts and far left loudmouths. It's really cringe worthy and we need more voices like yours, pushing back with FACTS 👏👏👏👏👏

AR15's must go they are for war & killing & do not belong in the hands of teens and private citizens. No one need one, not even to protect their territory let along go hunting with them. As far as I can tell they use them to go hunting innocent people & helpless children. Maybe one of those children should have been the governors then maybe there would be a hole new story to tell.

Mary, thank you for speaking out and using your voice and platform to "tell it like it is!" Great analysis. Now we just need to come up with some simple "sound bytes" that we can use to get the word out and help voters make more informed, rational choices based on these FACTS to counteract all of the extremists' fear-mongering blather and lies. Would love to see you address this in a future article.

Gas prices may go down more now that Biden has visited MBS in Saudi Arabia, I never owned a car and don't drive so I guess I'm insulated from the prices at the pump, however, Im infinitely aware of Food Inflation Prices Now, its stunning how much money food costs at the Supermarket. MARY I WAS A TROUBLEMAKER AS A TEENAGER AND MY DAD GOT SO PISSED AT ME ONCE HE WAS GONNA POINT A GUN IN MY FACE TO INTIMIDATE ME, HIS COMPANION WHO WORKED IN HIS DATA PROCESSING OFFICE REALIZED WHAT WAS GOING ON AS SHE WALKED IN THE ROOM, SHE EXCLAIMED OUT LOUD: NO YOUR NOT, THEN SPUN THE COMBINATION NUMBER DIAL ON THE FRONT OF THE SAFE SO HE COULDNT ACCESS THE GUNS WITHOUT A LONG TEDIOUS COMBINATION OPENING. A COUPLE YEARS LATER I WAS HITCHIKING COAST TO COAST IN 1983, AN AIR FORCE COLONEL IN HIS THIRTIES PICKED ME UP IN COLORADO SPRINGS IN HIS 57 CHEVY CONVERTIBLE, HE SAID YOUR JOB IS TO LITE THE BOWL (POT) WHEN I SAY AND LOAD IT WHEN I SAY, HE HAD GREAT VERY SMELLY WEED, LATER HE SAID DONT PUT YOUR HAND ON MIDDLE HAND REST, CAUSE HIS GUN WAS THERE. I GOT HIM TO STOP IN NEW MEXICO DESERT AND SHOW ME HOW TO LOAD UNLOAD PUT ON SAFETY FIRE LOCK AND USE GUN, WHICH HE DID, I KNEW HIM BEING A MILITARY MAN I COULD TRUST HIM AND HE TRUSTED ME AFTER I EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED WITH MY DAD AND WHY I WANTED TO KNOW THOSE THINGS ABOUT GUNS: FOR DEFENSIVE PURPOSES. I NEVER OWNED A GUN OR USED ONE SINCE BUT I DID WANT TO KNOW HOW A GUN WORKS IN CASE I WAS IN WRONG SITUATION IN WRONG TIME OUT OF FEAR THAT MY OWN DAD WAS GONNA INTIMIDATE ME WITH ONE, AM I CRAZY, OR WAS I ASTUTE FOR WANTING TO KNOW HOW A GUN WORKS FOR DEFENSIVE PURPOSES?

Most college-educated do understand the drivers of this hyper-inflation cycle. And most power hungry greedy reps in Govt don’t want an educated constituency. Hence, no free college-education, no fair minimum wage, no healthcare, no clean environment.
