Capitol police officer Eugene Goodman showed bravery above and beyond the call of duty on 1/6/21. He put his life on the line to protect our political leaders and to protect our democracy.

Potus 46 & Dr. Fauci. They both have put up with so much shit. Yet they both have always shown us the meaning of integrity and compassion. I would've already told Potus 45 and GOP to fuck off. So much for my integrity. Oh, well.😉

Betty White, you're a Queen in my book. Thank you for the rotflmao moments you've given me and for always touching my heart with your activism. Rest Easy.

Officer Eugene Goodman who put his life on the line 1/6/21 when he helped save lives that horrible day. I thought it was a slam dunk when times would chose person of the year but musk got it? For sending dongs into the atmosphere in space?

I’m going with Liz Cheney as the “good guy”. I don’t agree with her on policy on just about anything, but her willingness to stand up against TFG in the face of his bullying and the abuse she has taken from her own party is heartening.

The frontline & healthcare workers, along with the scientists who created the vaccines, are the good guys of last year.

So far collectively we've battled through this pandemic, and together is the only way we'll win this war on Covid.

Definitely Officer Eugene Goodman - there should be a statue of him placed in the exact spot where he stood his ground and pointed to the exit, as seen in the famous photo that preceded his quick actions to save the lives of the Vice President and likely several members of the Senate.

Good Guy of the Year: Jamie Raskin

There are so many reasons I nominated the people I chose in my earlier comment: Joe Biden, Dr. Fauci, Dr. Peter Hotez, Liz Cheney, Jamie Raskin, Nancy Pelosi -

This quality stands out for me.

In the face of relentless attacks and probably more serious threats to their lives than we'll ever know, they've acted out of integrity and have stood up for doing the right thing, in spite of the costs to themselves personally.

But what's even more striking to me about Joe Biden is that he is still kind, compassionate, and empathetic. We can see this in the interactions we witness with little kids and people who've endured catastrophe out in the world. It takes strength of character and commitment to not be chewed up by the incredible stress he's under and to maintain his humanity.

I've had the good fortune to be under the care of a cardiac specialist who is unfailingly kind and compassionate, in spite of the stress the health care system puts him and everyone else under. Because of the humility involved in having this strength of character, I'm not sure that it's celebrated enough, but I find it to be a tremendously powerful quality in a person and appreciate it very much.

I also love how Biden throws some awesome shade when necessary. :)

Every single "guy"named is the one to be celebrated. Maybe the Best Good Person of the Year is The Village, because it has taken one to help us through the mess and it'll take one to move us forward.

For me, it's a toss-up between these two Capitol police officers: Michael Fanone and Eugene Goodman, both of whom exhibited bravery under horrible circumstances, risking their lives.

My vote is for Historian Heather Cox Richardson, whose nearly daily “Letters From An American” have cogently chronicled the difficult TFG years through now. She expertly puts the firehose of current events into historical perspective with her calm accounting of facts woven into events in history teaching us how Americans in other times have risen to achieve impossible feats in challenging times. Her letters have formed a community of Americans committed to saving Democracy, showing how social media can be used to promote the good in all of us. She has certainly saved my mental health and others’ too!

So many brave, humane and impressive people who are giving their best to keep us safe and sane. The most influential and helpful to me is Mary Trump. Courageous intelligent and insightful with just the right dose of humour to keep me focused on the good around us and an understanding of the chaos ( sort of).🤷‍♀️

Be kind and keep fingers crossed for a better 2022.
