I love "Walk Off The Earth" SO MUCH - yes, please, everyone dive into their archives, they are just magicians that use musical instruments instead of wands, rabbits and top hats.

(Alas, they've been through some stuff in recent years: in 2018, band member Mike "Beard Guy" Taylor died, kicking off a very rough year for them - but right now they're back performing, including on Jimmy Kimmel 2 months ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrKibIgywEY)

But also, re. "Someone That I Used To Know", how great a singer is Gotye when he's performing it live? THIS great: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E87JdbqStx8 (which was unrehearsed!!).

Hey thank you, Mary. I got home from a long work day and was about to watch news or zone out to tv, and there, in my inbox, was just what I needed instead. And I went down a rabbit hole of youtube music videos, always a good thing for me.

And what you chose to share just makes me appreciate you, as a person, even more :)

Two Covers I really Love are: The Cure "Purple Haze" (Jimi Hendrix) and U2 "Night & Day" (Cole Porter) speaking of Covers that have their own "personalities" it you will. Rick Beato is brilliant. So is his son. His "perfect pitch", being able to ID tones and chords is outstanding. Rick's an original! Glad you found him. 🎶

Musician Greg Laswell did an awesome cover of Cyndi Laupers Girls Just Wanna Have Fun! Was blown away first time I heard his sad, soulful, slow tempo rendition voicing the angst of a guy looking for a serious relationship so he can do something with his life, but “girls just wanna have fun”. Really made me see the song differently when sung with so much sadness by a guy. His voice was perfect for this melancholy cover which turns the Lauper version on its head.

Mary, thank you for your musical recommendations. I will give them a listen later today. I have seen Rick's videos; I really enjoy his musical takes.

My favorite covers are:

1. The Fugees' version of "Killing Me Softly With His Song," originally by Roberta Flack

2. U2's cover of "Helter Skelter" originally by The Beatles

3. The Cowboy Junkies' version of "Sweet Jane" originally by Lou Reed

If I may, I have two recommendations.

1. Listen to WYEP 91.3fm Pittsburgh, independent public radio. They have introduced me to so much outstanding music and artists; just fantastic stuff. Yes they stream worldwide WYEP.org. Lock it in and rip the knob off.

2. Check out “The Sundays” cover of “Wild Horses.” Harriet Wheeler’s voice is magic and she makes the song her own. I never tire of hearing it or any Sundays song, really.

Thank you for featuring Eliza Gilkyson's cover of How Could It Come To This. I had forgotten how extraordinary this performance is.

This is fantastic, thank you! Appreciate some of your mentions, too. Love Johnny Cash’s cover of “Hurt” also (as well as NiN’s original) and his video. I think Tori Amos’ cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit” is the best cover of that song. Thanks again, Mary. Take care and have a good night.
